
SSE Thermal’s Aldbrough Hydrogen Pathfinder project has been selected by government to progress to negotiations as part of its Net Zero Hydrogen Fund.
The green hydrogen project is located at the existing Aldbrough Gas Storage site it co-owns with Equinor, on the East Yorkshire coast. It aims to demonstrate the benefits of co-locating hydrogen production, storage and power generation. It could be operational by the middle of the decade and is flagged as being ready to “serve an important role in proving the part flexible hydrogen power can play in the UK’s net zero journey”.
