North East mayoral candidates make their pitch at business hustings

Candidates wanting to be the first mayor of the North East have made their pitch to business leaders in a hustings event in the region.
The event, organised by the North East Chamber of Commerce, the CBI and the Federation of Small Businesses ahead of the mayoral election on May 2, heard from Andrew Gray of the Green Party, independent Jamie Driscoll, Aidan King (Liberal Democrat), Labour’s Kim McGuinness and Conservative candidate Guy Renner-Thompson. Reform UK candidate Paul Donaghy was unable to attend the event.
Around 200 of the region’s leading businesses and organisations were at the event at Sunderland University.
