
The consortium behind the Gigastack renewable hydrogen project say they are making good progress in bringing the ambitious scheme to reality.ITM Power, Ørsted, Phillips 66 and Element Energy have published a report which outlines what needs to be done ahead of a final investment decision and commercial operation of a 100MW scale electrolyser system powered by offshore wind in 2025. Funded to date as part of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Hydrogen Supply Competition, Gigastack aims to provide renewable hydrogen at industrial scale and demonstrate the full decarbonisation potential of offshore wind in the the Humber.
