A craft distillery has launched a limited-edition Christmas gin flavoured with nutmeg, ginger, liquorice root, star anise and cloves, also features a full-bodied red wine.Charlie Hendon, head distiller at the business which is based in Leicestershire’s historic Charnwood Forest, has blended the ingredients with a selection of Burleighs’ signature botanicals for the festive spirit. To come up with a distinctive taste the process steeps the botanicals in red wine to create a festive infusion before being added to the distillery’s copper-pot still called Messy Bessy. The Burleighs Mulled Christmas Gin is on sale for £40 plus delivery from the Burleighs website. The distiller is the official gin partner of Leicester City Football Club, Leicester Tigers and the King Richard III foundation and has a variety of different gins including one launched last year inspired by Marilyn Monroe. The business recently launched a National Forest gin ti support the East Midlands tourist attraction.
