Big Interview: Dunelm CEO on beating the high street blues

The boss of one of Britain’s biggest homeware chains is working on ways to take an even bigger chunk of the market. It comes after Dunelm announced a 5.5 per cent jump in sales to £1.6 billion and profits of almost £193 million for the last year.
The Leicestershire-headquartered business, which has 180 stores and employs 11,600 people, has a 7 per cent share of the homewares and furniture market – and chief executive Nick Wilkinson said there is no reason why that shouldn’t keep going up.
New store openings are set to accelerate in the next couple of years while the brand is also focussing on its workforce and extending its made-to-measure blinds and curtains production line in Birstall, just up the road from its national HQ at Syston, in Leicesters …
