Alnwick drone company nets £350k investment to create prototype

An Alnwick-based firm that describes itself as “farmers who know drones” has secured £350,000 investment to develop a drone prototype for soil sampling.Drone Ag already provides farmers with drones for crop scouting, spraying and mapping and will now develop a model that carries equipment for extracting and returning soil samples. To fund development, the firm has received a £5,500 North of Tyne Innovation Recovery Grant along with £145,000 from Innovate UK as part of the Regional Angel Investment Accelerator programme, and £200,000 of match funding secured from angel investors after pitching at a Newcastle Angel Hub pitch event.
