M&S Christmas ad is ‘hilarious’ – but viewers are all saying the same thing

MARKS and Spencer has revealed its Christmas food ad for 2022 – but viewers are all saying there is just one thing missing. Fans of M&S have taken to social media to praise the high-street retailer’s campaign, which features iconic comedy duo French and Saunders.
1M&S fans have praised the new Christmas ad but say something is missing
The festive clip sees a fairy and raggedy dog toy come to life to explore the mouth-watering food M&S has on offer this Christmas.
But customers have been left wondering why their favourite character Percy Pig has been left out of the ad.
Last year’s M&S Christmas ad featured Spiderman star Tom Holland as the voice of Percy Pig.
And judging by some of the social media reactions, many viewers are gutted that the much-loved character has been left out.

Writing on Twitter, one person said: “Aw no Percy Pig this year?”
While another added: “No Percy!! Absolutely gutted.”
And third wrote: “Missing Percy the Pig this year.”
Responding to people on Twitter, M&S said: “Last year’s ad saw Fairy and Percy discovering the delights of Christmas for the first time, naturally this year Fairy needed a new friend for the adventure (although of course, she’s still great friends with Percy!)”

This year’s ad had its TV premiere on ITV’s This Morning yesterday.
It opens with Dawn French, reprising her role as Fairy from last year’s ad, on top of a Christmas tree in a cosy home.
She leaves her perch in search of a “little friend”, heads to Wylie the dog’s basket and brings to life a tattered old chew toy.
Duckie, voiced by Jennifer Saunders, is then chased by Wylie and Fairy uses her magic to help Duckie fly.
Fairy brings the downtrodden Duckie some “festive cheer” as they embark on an exploration of Christmas dishes on display on the dining table.
This showcases some of what’s on offer in the M&S festive menu for 2022.
And you won’t get bored of watching the same advert over and over because M&S will drop a new video every week until the New Year.
Each of the adverts will reveal more of the festive collection, with the classic slow-motion close-up shots of M&S food.
Marks & Spencer’s Percy Pig Christmas ad was released on November 4 last year.
Earlier this year, Very also released its first Christmas ad, much to the annoyance of viewers who said it was too early.

We also reveal when the John Lewis ad is likely to be released.
It comes as major brands are preparing for the festive season by releasing their festive menus as well as shopping ranges.
